TREAT YOURSELF
International Self-Care Day
International Self-Care Day
While for some, self-care may mean taking a luxurious bath or getting a facial, it goes far beyond that. Self-care is quite literally taking care of your whole self—physically, mentally and emotionally. Use International Self-Care Day (July 24) as a healthy reminder that you are worth it.
Spending time doing things you enjoy or that make you feel uplifted, especially when you feel stressed, is important for your health, according to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). Self-care can add meaning to your life by supporting things like your energy and sleep quality, while also helping you avoid depression, burnout or even disease.
And as an article on Canada.ca states, you need to care for yourself to be able to care for others. Use these tips from CAMH as a starting point:
- Eat well.
- Move your body.
- Meditate.
- Pay attention to yourself.
- Slow down.
- Talk to people.
