Costco Shop Card Terms and Conditions

Costco Shop Cards are now available for purchase (by Costco members only) in two formats:- Physical Costco Shop Card
- Digital Costco Shop Card
These terms and conditions highlight the Costco Shop Card features; they also identify important differences between the Physical Costco Shop Card and the Digital Costco Shop Card. Please read all terms and conditions before use.
Costco Shop Cards
- Issued by Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd.
- You must be a Costco member in order to purchase a Costco Shop Card
- Purchase limit of $10,000 or less per day
- Denominations available per Costco Shop Card: $50 - $2,000
- No expiry date
- Non-negotiable instrument
- May not be resold
- Balances may only be applied to the purchase of products
- Balances can be applied toward Costco merchandise at any Costco location in Canada, the United States or Puerto Rico
- Non-members' access to Costco warehouses in the United States and Puerto Rico are subject to any local requirements
- Only Costco members with a valid Costco.ca account can use Costco Shop Cards to shop online at Costco.ca, Costcobusinesscentre.ca or Costco.com
- Exclusions: Costco Shop Cards cannot be applied to online purchases on Sameday.costco.ca or memejour.costco.ca
- Balances can be applied toward Costco membership subject to Membership Conditions & Regulations
- Balances cannot be applied as payment to any credit card or charge account(s) or redeemed for cash, unless required by law
- Costco Shop Card balances can be accessed by entering the Card Number and PIN at the following link: (https://www.costco.ca/costco-shop-card)
- Neither Costco nor any of its affiliates are responsible for the use of the Costco Shop Card without your permission
- Will immediately be void if Costco determined that it was at any time obtained illegally (including by fraud, theft, or other criminal act or failing to tender proper payment) or if it is altered or (if applicable) defaced
- Delivery to an incorrect but deliverable email or mailing address as provided by the purchaser is the responsibility of the purchaser
- Costco is not responsible for lost or stolen Costco Shop Card(s). If your Costco Shop Card is lost or stolen, and you have proof of purchase, Costco will issue a replacement for the current balance according to our records by contacting Costco Wholesale Member Service (1-800-463-3783).
- Costco Shop Card(s) received in error are subject to cancellation
- If you did not purchase the Costco Shop Card directly from Costco, the original issue value identified on the card may not reflect the actual balance, due to factors beyond the control of Costco (e.g. third party use)
- The 2% Executive Member Reward does not apply to Costco Shop Card activation or (if applicable) reloads
Physical Costco Shop Card
- Can be purchased:
online at Costco.ca; or,
at any Costco warehouse across Canada.

- Costco Gas Station: Balances can be applied to gasoline purchases at a Costco Gas Station in Canada, the United States or Puerto Rico.
- Costco Food Court: Balances can be applied at a Costco Food Court
- Costco members can reload / increase the Physical Costco Shop Card balance at a Costco warehouse in Canada
- Can only be purchased online at Costco.ca
- Cannot be used at Costco Gas Stations
- Cannot be used at a Costco Food Court
- After purchase, balances cannot be reloaded or increased
- If you are not a Costco member, you may only use a Costco Shop Card for purchases at a Costco warehouse
- Online shopping (at Costco.ca or Costcobusinesscentre.ca) is unavailable to Non-members
- If the value of a Non-member purchase exceeds the value of the Costco Shop Card, the excess can only be paid by cash, debit or MasterCard.
- In order to use the Costco Shop Card at a Canadian Costco warehouse, Non-members must present the Shop Card at the front entrance.
Gift Messaging is available. You will have an opportunity to enter a gift message during the checkout process. Available for Physical Costco Shop Card only.

- Email with a link to your Digital Costco Shop Card is delivered within 24 hours
- Email delivered to Ship To email address on the purchaser’s Costco.ca account
- If you have a filter on your email, please add to your white list: communications@digitalshopcards.costco.ca
- Digital Shop Cards can be printed or saved as PDFs to share with others.
- The Physical Shop Card is mailed to the Ship To address of the purchaser
- Standard shipping is via common carrier
- Tracking will not be available
- Please allow 7 to 10 business days for delivery from the time of your order
