Tire Installation Requirements

General Notice

The final decision to install a tire on a vehicle will be made by the Costco Tire Centre manager or supervisor. The tire must meet all vehicle manufacturer's safety standards and specifications.

Installation Of Less Than A Full Set Of Tires

It is always recommended to replace tires in complete sets. When purchasing less than four tires, the new tires will be installed on the rear of your vehicle regardless of the drive axle. This does not apply to Dual Wheel vehicles or vehicles with different size tires on the front and rear of the vehicle.

Standard Tire Installation

If you are purchasing a tire using an option other than the "search by vehicle option" you must make sure the tire you purchase is an authorized fitment for your vehicle. Costco will only install tires authorized for a specific vehicle. If you are unsure if your purchase is an authorized fitment, contact your local Costco Tire Centre for assistance.

Snow Tire Installation

Front Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive, Four Wheel Drive, and All Wheel Drive Vehicles
Snow tires will only be installed in sets of four on front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, four wheel drive, and all wheel drive vehicles.

Dual Wheel Drive Vehicles
Snow tires will only be installed in sets of four on the rear of a dual wheel vehicle or a complete set of six tires.

Speed Rating

Tires will only be installed if the speed rating is the same or higher than the speed rating that the vehicle manufacturer equipped the vehicle with from the factory.

Load Carrying Capacity

Tires will only be installed if the load carrying capacity is the same or higher than the load carrying capacity that the vehicle manufacturer equipped the vehicle with from the factory.

Four Wheel Drive And All Wheel Drive Vehicles

It is recommended to replace tires on Four-Wheel-Drive and All-Wheel-Drive vehicles in full sets. When purchasing less than a full set of tires, the tire size and tread design must be identical. Some vehicle manufacturers do not allow tire replacement in less than full sets. For vehicle manufacturers that allow tire replacement in less than full sets, the overall circumference between the old tires and the new tires must meet a specification designated by either the vehicle manufacturer or the tire manufacturer. You can find the vehicle manufacturers overall circumference specification in the vehicles owners manual. You can access the tire manufacturers overall circumference specification by contacting your local Costco Tire Centre. The vehicle's owners manual will always take precedence over the tire manufacturer for this fitment requirement. If less than a full set of tires is purchased, the new tires will be installed on the rear of the vehicle.

Tire Storage

Should you need to store tires, they should be stored indoors in a cool, dry place that is well ventilated. It is suggested you place them in containers to protect the tires from damage. It is recommended that the tires do not come in contact with sources of heat and/or ozone i.e. radiators, electric generators/motors, hot pipes, etc. Tires should not come into contact with water, grease, fuels, brake fluid or any other chemicals.
