Mission Statement & Giving Guidelines
Costco Wholesale is committed in its support of charitable activities in the communities where it operates. Costco dedicates the balance of its charitable contributions to children's initiatives, specifically in the areas of health, welfare and education, as well as to families in need. United Way, Breakfast Club of Canada and Children’s Miracle Network have been designated as the primary charities.
Our Charitable Contributions Committee is charged with overseeing our charitable giving and encouraging decentralization of charitable giving so that the greatest impact is where Costco's employees and members live and work.
Qualifying for Donations
Costco Wholesale considers making donations to registered Canadian charities for select programs that currently fall within our focused areas of giving only : children's welfare and families in need.
It is best to make your request a minimum of 4 weeks in advance of the need. While we would like to respond favourably to all requests, the needs are far greater than our dedicated resources. Therefore, it is not possible for us to accommodate all requests.
Income tax receipts must be provided for all corporate donations (monetary or in-kind).
Local registered Canadian charities that fall within our giving guidelines and focus areas should fax or mail a request to their local Costco warehouse. To determine your closest warehouse, click here.
Costco warehouses can respond to requests of in-kind (product) donations so long as the criteria for eligibility are followed and request is approved by the Warehouse Manager.
National or regional registered Canadian charities that fall within our giving guidelines and focus areas should submit a request to the Canadian corporate office by filling out the form found here. The completed form is to be sent to us for review.
Due to the large number of requests, Costco Wholesale is unable to guarantee a response to all donation requests. Please note, Costco Wholesale Canada will only consider requests sent using the Request form.
